Just a couple of weeks ago while out in my garden, I noticed that my there was almost no heating oil in my tank. I was very shocked by this because I had only had my tank filled up two weeks previously to that. I was really surprised because we are very steady in our oil consumption and there was no reason for the sudden increase. My first thought was that we had a leak and that really worried me. I began to investigate the oil tank, and the pipes coming from, it but there was no signs of any spillage. I was very relieved that we did not have a leak but still none the wiser about where all my oil had disappeared to. I then began to think that maybe I was mistaken about the time when I had had the oil tank filled. But I knew I had been right about the date when I discovered the receipt in my house.

 

Then I started to wonder whether or not the oil company had actually filled up the tank when they said they did. I even went so far as to ring the company. They were very good about it but they were also adamant that there was no way that this type of thing could have happened. They assured me that had there been an error, they would have been made aware of it straight away because of the strict controls they use for oil going in and out of the delivery tankers. They did however, bring to my attention, the fact that someone could be stealing the oil.

 

I had not even thought about this before but when I did, it kind of made sense. I have since read up on this and discovered that this type of crime is on the increase because of the price of oil and the economic situation. I spoke to a few of my neighbours and while they hadn’t noticed anything with their consumption they had heard that it was happening a lot in one of our local neighbourhoods. So I have now realised that this is more than likely the cause of my disappearing oil.

 

Heating ones home in the cold months of winter can cost a fair packet. Electricity and gas prices are very high and show no signs of coming down any time soon. Many individuals are now changing over to cheaper home heating oil though. home heating oil are the people tasked with keeping home oil tanks full. Suppliers can be found all over the country, and, for example, will supply heating oil highgate.
