Use Furniture Wisely Throughout Your Home
Any interior decorator can spot thousands of mistakes within one home regarding the decor and the decisions made by the amateur decorator, who is usually the homeowner. Of course, it’s only because the majority of people simply don’t understand what goes behind interior decorating.
To start off with, you must look at your home, whether it is a period home or what ever, the architecture will play a role in determining how you will go about decorating it. You’ll also want to add some character and personality that comes from yourself. Another thing that you must pay attention to is purchasing or bringing in furniture that goes with not only the architecture and your own personal style, but the overall design scheme you are aiming to achieve.
The dining room is probably one of the simplest rooms to tackle because of the standard furniture that is meant for this room. Of course, there are options, such as round dining room sets, among many others. But overall, they are pretty much the same. With the round table, it allows guests to converse amongst each other very easily, as opposed to other shaped tables.
The only problem with this shape is the fact that it takes up too much space, hindering any addition of a sideboard or a buffet with a hutch, unless of course the room is quite large. But, if the room is rectangular, you will end up having problems, in most cases.
If this is the case with your home, what you should do is opt for a square or rectangular dining room set, or even a round one that is smaller in scale. Regardless of which style you choose, it’s always best to have the option to open it up with an extra leaf or two, making it easy to seat many guests comfortably.
Many homeowners are guilty of trying to make any given room something else, or something it just can’t handle. Most of the time, they bring in too many items making the room tight and uncomfortable. Another error lies in the fact that the furniture is to wide, bulky or heavy for the space.
This is a very common mistake in bedrooms and happens often in children’s rooms. The truth is, children have lots of things in their rooms besides the regular furniture. There are toys, bookcases, etc. Which cramps up the space. In order to open it up more, buy a loft bed and use the space underneath as storage or as a playroom, if you will.

I agree – don’t bring too much into a room, particularly the bedroom. Doing this is filling the room with clutter.
