Things Not to say during surgery
From my experience as a nurse in an operating room, I have found out that there are a few things that one should not say whilst the patient is still awake.
- Oops!
- Damn!
- Is that suppose to be there?
- It doesn’t usually look like that.
- I didn’t tell you to cut that!
- What do you mean we’re missing an instrument!
- Get my lawyer on the phone.
- Call my office and tell them I don’t know when I’ll be there.
- I hope this goes quick & easy…I didn’t get much sleep last night.
- Get the attending physician…now.
- Hold the book where I can see it. OK, now turn the page.
- Doesn’t anyone here know how to work this thing?
- When is lunch?

These are very funny, although I am a little more nervous about having surgery now. Guess it is a good thing I will be asleep.
