ADD or Attention Deficit Disorder is a mental disorder that may be caused by a defect in the structure of the brain. Children with this disorder will often show many signs, including hyperactivity, impusliveness and inattention.

Most children quite often don’t have long attention spans even in normal circumstances. A child with attention deficit disorder will display a short attention span even when compared to peers of the same age. For instance, many young children being read a book to, will grow restless and inattentive if the story lasts for more than half an hour. A child with attention deficit disorder will probably become inattentive after only five or ten minutes.

Treatments and Natural Remedies

If you think that your child may be suffering from attention deficit disorder, you can find treatments, including many natural remedies for ADD. It might be a good idea to talk to your school and see if they recommend someone such as a psychologist to help diagnose and treat a childhood mental disorder such as this one. A natural treatment that has been found to be effective is called Synaptol.

A Sign of ADD – Hyperactive

Other signs of inattention in attention deficit disorder include being easily distracted and moving rapidly from one activity to another without completing any of them. Not listening or being able to pay attention to directions in class or at home are also signs. There are more symptoms such as making careless mistakes and failure to remember essential items, supplies and notes. For example, forgetting to bring lunch to school, or forgetting to bring home special notes or permission slips.

The child with ADD shows extreme restlessness when compared to peers of the same age. Signs of hyperactivity in attention deficit disorder may include being restless or fidgety or constantly moving hands and feet even when sitting down. Having trouble staying in an assigned seat, getting up and moving around inappropriately, being constantly on the go, are all signs of hyperactivity.

Another Sign of Attention Deficit Disorder – Impulsiveness

Impulsiveness can appear in many ways. Again, since most children are impulsive to a certain extent, this symptom is measured against what is normal for a child of the age in question. A child with this condition may have a hard time waiting to take his turn or is often likely to speak out of turn in class. Impulsive children often have a hard time reading social cues and can often be seen shoving themselves into the middle of conversations or games whether they are invited to join or not.

While there is no permanent cure for attention deficit disorder, many treatments have been found to be effective, including many homeopathic treatments and natural remedies.
