Last month’s winner, “Cruel to be Kind” was truly a sad experience about a parent’s frustration in trying to get help for their child and the difficult lengths went to in order make it happen. Please take a some time to read it. Thank you KS for your submission.

The first writing contest for FromMyExperience.com
In a purely vain attempt at attracting more bloggers to post on FromMyExperience.com, I have decided to start a blog writing contest.
I will be offering a $25 cash prize, payable through paypal. Here are the simple rules:
- Write about a personal experience you have had and what you learned from it. The experience can be funny, sad, silly, meaningful and everything in between.
- There is no minimum word limit but you must complete your story. (They can be short, such as my bacon experience.) Please include a title or I’ll have to add one for you.
- Limit 800 words.
- This isn’t a creative writing contest. I’m not looking for polished works. It should be real and read as being real. Lessons should be learned from each post, whether important or not. Please do not use this as a vehicle to showcase your writing ability. If it feels like a published story it may not be accepted.
- I am the judge and my decision is final.

- The judging is simple. I choose what I like the best. It can be funny, serious, thoughtful, etc.
- Contest starts Jan. 19, 2008 and end Feb. 19, 2008. I’ll notify winner within one week.
If I get enough entries I may increase the prize to $50, but I’m not promising anything. If this goes well it may become a monthly contest so tell your friends, bloggers and writers. That is my hope at least.
You can link back to your own blog or website and include promotional content at the end of your story.
I can edit entries for the purpose of keeping this family blog. So keep it clean to avoid any awkward situations.
I will post all the entries submitted so at the very least you will get some press and notoriety. The contest begins January 19th and ends February 19th. I will notify the winner by email and the winning post will be forever immortalized in the Winning Experience category I will create for all winning submissions. You can also use the “Winning Experience” graphic (see left) to put on your site or blog signifying you as a From My Experience Winner!
